What is a Doula?
A doula is a birth support person! Doulas have knowledge in pregnancy, labor, delivery, postpartum and caregiving. A doula should be nurturing, informative, compassionate, calming, empowering, outgoing, assertive, respectful and accepting. A doula makes no guarantee, but will hold your hand and hold space for the laboring mother and her partner, and advocate when necessary. A doula trusts the mother and the process.
Research shows that having a doula at your birth will reduce the duration of your labor, your risk of cesarean section, the request for epidural or narcotic pain medication, and other medical interventions
I have always been in love with pregnancy, labor and birth and the postpartum period! Creating life and bringing a child into this world is sacred work and the expecting and laboring woman must be supported and guided during this time. Birth is one of the most precious moments of the human experience and should not be feared, but welcomed and anticipated with open arms, an open heart and an open mind.
As your Birth Doula, I will support you mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually and (to the best of my ability) use my knowledge, instinct and intuition to help you manifest the birth of your dreams.
